How to Reach Bikaner

The ancient Jain temples, intricate red sandstone havelis, and winding lanes lend a certain old-world charm to the desert city of Bikaner.

Bikaner has a thriving camel safari scene, even though most tourists prefer landing up in Jaisalmer. This means you can enjoy the historical attractions and enjoy a desert camping adventure without the hustle and bustle of the Golden City. Bikaner’s old city area is encompassed by a 7km wall that was erected in the 18th century.

Back in the 15th century, Bikaner was wild desert country known as Jangladesh. A Rathore prince who refused to inherit his father’s kingdom decided to found the kingdom of Bikaner. Today, this north-western Rajasthan city is home to some of the most picturesque sand dunes and camels. Some of Rajasthan’s best camels are found here and you should certainly give Bikaner a chance.
