Bhangarh

If there is any place in Rajasthan that needs no introduction, it is Bhangarh in Alwar! Known to be one of the most haunted places in the country, Bhangarh is a pre-historic site that can taste visitors’ guts with its spooky tales. Established during 1573 during the reign of Bhagwant Das, entry to this historic fort is strictly restricted after sunset. The legends have it that a Hindu priest named Baba BalakNath, cursed this fort as the shadow of the fortress used to overshadow his cottage.

Since then, the city faced several calamities and finally was left deserted. Another folklore says that after a sorcerer fell in love with the princess of Bhangarh, and performed black magic to achieve her love. The magician, before getting crushed by a huge boulder, cursed Bhangarh! Whatever the truth may be, this glorious fortress is a stunning piece of ancient architecture and is a true reminiscent of the past.
