Nahargarh Fort

Defending Jaipur from the hands of its foes, Nahargarh Fort has been standing strong in the Aravalli Hills since 1734. Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, this fortress is considered as the most fortified structure in Jaipur; owing to this, it is also referred as the ‘Abode of Tigers’ (local meaning for Nahargarh) by many. Built as a retreat for the royal families, it also served as a hunting lodge and is said to have been a protection camp for the British women during Indian Mutiny.
