Juna Mahal

A seven-storeyed complex whose foundation was laid in the late 13th century by Rawal Veer Singh Deo, Juna Mahal is one of the oldest and longest surviving palaces in the entire of Rajasthan. Once a residence of the royal families, the mahal was periodically extended by its successors. Also known as ‘Bada Mahal’ and ‘Purana Mahal’, Juna Mahal is not just a prominent landmark, but also contributes to the rich and glorious history of Dungarpur’s golden era.

Dotted with ‘Parewa’ (a locally found green gemstone), latticed windows, captivating square pillars, gorgeous arches, glass and wall paintings, this pictorial palace depicts the brilliance of ancient Hindu architecture and its unparalleled beauty.
