Named after Rani Padmavati, whose bewitching beauty provoked AlauddinKhilji to attack Chittorgarh. Even though Maharaja Ratan Singh lost the battle, Rani Padmavati saved her honour and dignity by conducting a ‘jauhar’ (self-immolation).
